Promptlight macOS App Privacy Policy

The Promptlight macOS app respects your data and privacy. We collect minimal data that is required for the app to work, and nothing else.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• The app does not collect any personal data beyond what is described below.
• Search and copy work offline. Internet is only required for Prompt Enhancer, auto-update, and license activation.
• The app does not make any changes to the system without explicit permissions from you. The following permissions will be asked:

– File Access: Required for importing prompts from your files
– Global Keyboard Shortcuts: Required to invoke Promptlight with your chosen keyboard shortcut

Data We Collect, When, and How We Use It

If you purchase a license key, we will collect:

• Your email address: This is used to deliver the license key to you, send transactional emails such as purchase confirmations or critical product updates, and help you recover your license key if lost in the future.

If you activate a license key in Promptlight, we will collect:

• Device Name (e.g., "MacBook Pro"): This helps you recognize your device in the License Manager in case you have multiple devices.
• Device ID (hardware identifier): This is used to prevent abuse of the license key by limiting the number of devices allowed per license tier.

If you use Prompt Enhancer, we will process:

• Prompt text and selected mode: This is sent to our AI provider to generate the enhanced prompt. We do not store prompt content beyond processing.

When you use the macOS app, we also collect limited analytics:

Promptlight relies on Mixpanel to understand which workflows need reliability fixes or feature improvements. We only track a focused set of in-product events—such as launching the app, saving a prompt, using Enhancer mode, or syncing your library—to guide product decisions.

For anonymous usage, each Mixpanel event only includes contextual properties like app version, macOS version, paid tier, or whether optional features are enabled. We also use Google Analytics 4, Mixpanel, and DataFast on the website to measure conversion and tool usage (e.g., page views, pricing/checkout clicks, prompt enhancer usage). DataFast uses anonymous visitor and session identifiers to attribute completed LemonSqueezy purchases back to the marketing visit that led to them. After a paid purchase, we attach the email address associated with the transaction to post-purchase events so we can troubleshoot licensing issues, reconcile billing, and offer personalized support.

You may request deletion or anonymization at any time via support@promptlight.app. We review the payload regularly to stay aligned with this privacy policy, minimize what we collect, comply with GDPR/CCPA, and keep overall event volume within our Mixpanel plan limits.

We only share your data with essential service providers. For the macOS app and website, this means sending the limited analytics fields above to Mixpanel, Google Analytics 4, and DataFast so we can improve reliability, understand traffic sources, and measure conversion. Beyond those providers and the tools referenced in the Website Privacy Policy, we do not disclose your data to any other third parties.

Promptlight Website Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. It is Promptlight's policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our website, promptlight.app, and other sites we own and operate.

To improve the website experience, we rely on Google Analytics 4, Mixpanel, and DataFast to capture anonymous metrics such as page views, clicks, checkout starts, and completed purchase attribution. DataFast uses anonymous visitor and session identifiers to connect a LemonSqueezy purchase with the website visit that led to it. No personal data is collected or stored in these tools until a paid purchase or support interaction requires us to associate the transaction with your email address.

Our website may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and practices of these sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective data collection practices.
